Black Matipo is a pittosporum and is commonly known as kohuhu and other Maori names kohukohu and tawhiwhi. Its small, very dark purple flowers are only scented at night.This native grows into a small shrub or tree to a height of 3-6 meters tall. Ideal as a revegetation species or in a understory position.
Propagation: Sow Black Matipo seeds during spring and summer directly onto a firm bed of seed raising mix and press in well. Cover with a light layer of mix.Seedlings usually appear in two to three months depending on temperature.
